Harmer Hill & District Women's Institute

Find Out More!

Harmer Hill Women's Institute was established in March 1955. We meet once a month at the Harmer Hill Village Hall as well as attending a wide range of other activities.

We are a group of 28 women from all walks of life who come together with a strong interest in supporting our local community, learning new skills, sharing experiences, being creative, having fun and making new friends!

We enjoy a wide range of interesting speakers at our monthly meetings, we also join in Shropshire County events and activities with other WI groups e.g., skittles, shows, craft activities, fashion shows and many more!

The Harmer Hill WI is part of a body of more than 180,000 women and part of the largest Women’s organisation in the UK.

"Every member is there because they want to be. There is a huge feeling of support from every member – it’s just like a sisterhood!"

We are all keen to support our local community and WI campaigns address issues that matter to our members, they range from equal pay to climate change, from mental health issues to microplastic pollution.

We have an annual programme of events ranging from craft, sport, science, and the arts. There are county and national activities and competitions…we have been very successful this year with several awards received by members of the Harmer Hill WI.

There are events held locally, projects, and competitions that members can enjoy at home as well as National Events.

At our County Annual General Meeting held at the Severn Theatre in Shrewsbury, we like to arrange something special, we met Dame Stella Rimmington last year and one of Nelson Mandela’s security guards this year! Our interests are varied and wide-ranging!
