Harmer Hill & District Women's Institute
Not all ‘Jam and Jerusalem!'
Harmer Hill and District Women's Institute was established in March 1955. The Institute is also part of the Shropshire and National Federation.
We enjoy a wide range of interesting speakers at our monthly meetings (go to our WI page in The Messenger to read about our latest meeting and forthcoming events).
A few examples of Speakers are:-
-
An unusual job for a lady (toast master)
-
Life as a vet
-

-

-
History of the Red Cross
-
And of course cooking and flower demonstrations
We also get involved in County Events, Open Meetings with other WIs and Group WI activities.
Our WI Institute enters an annual craft, produce and flower arranging competition organised by the Shropshire WI Federation. We have
been successful over a number of years in gaining major trophies in competitions organised by the county Federation. The competition is now an attraction at the Shrewsbury Flower Show which is always worth a visit! On a smaller scale we run our own craft show each year. We also take part in the county Federation darts competition during the winter months.
We hope any new members will want to enjoy sharing with us the companionship, learning experiences and enjoyable sociable way of life, caring for the important issues as we do.
